Now or Never

Last year I wrote another book, Now or Never.

Since then the world has changed dramatically. Two strong forces are fighting it out – the hunger for easy answers and the realism of where we are. Which will win? And what can we do about it all?

Early in the book I wrote about that iconic question: “What can one person do?” I suggested a better question: “Who can one person be?

Gandhi advised that we must be the change we wish to see in the world. He didn’t talk about all the things we should do… it was being that he championed and it’s being that gets lost in all the doing.

I like reworking that old phrase, “Don’t just stand there, do something!” to read, “Don’t just do something, stand there!”

Patience is hard. Especially when we face urgent challenges. But the greatest challenge is to follow Gandhi’s lead and be the change. That’s what this Now or Never moment is really about, to live our values and change the world from within ourselves.
